HASEGAWA FOKKER Dr.I 1/8 SCALE MUSEUM MODEL SERIES Kit of the Famous German Triplane flown by the Red Baron von Richthofen during WWI Total Parts: 857 Wingspan: 838mm (32.9") Length: 722mm (28.4") Features: Hand Made Wooden Propeller Japanese Cypress Rods, etc. Die Cut Plywood Brass, Aluminum, and other metal parts Assembly Instructions and Color Guide. I found this kit on eBay as they have been long out of production. I found this kits on eBay that was complete and nothing ever removed from the kit. Some versions of the kit contained a plastic prop. The version I found featured the original wooden propeller which is pretty nice. The kit is in excellent, unassembled condition. I’m really looking forward to this kit, and at this scale lots of detail can be added. Having started on the research for the model it is also quite evident from the pictures below that Hasegawa made some compromises on accuracy. The leading edges of the wings are completely wrong, they are missing the wood leading edges, the ammunition boxes also fall very short of reality. There are also several other odd substitutions going on which I’ll address during the build. I plan to make the model half covered and leave the remaining structure uncovered. I have not decided on which pilots aircraft I will paint the model to represent yet.

Some pictures of  the kit contents: Box Art, very nicely done.

All items are stored in neat boxes and labeled excellent.

The selection of the wood quality is excellent!

Wood leading edge is missing, strange they did not include it.

Lots of plastic parts, metal and brass, good multi media kit for sure.

Plastic propeller provided. I will make mine out of wood to try and match the original.
